The Maintenance Officer, reporting directly to the Head of Estates, will play a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep and security of school buildings and grounds. The successful candidate will be responsible for a diverse range of maintenance tasks, including cleaning, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs, contributing to the overall functionality and safety of the school environment. Key Responsibilities: Perform general maintenance tasks such as cleaning, basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and grounds maintenance. Manage car park operations and supervise car park activities. Operate during and outside of school hours, working both indoors and on the school grounds. Liaise with contractors, ensuring their safety and minimizing disruption to the school routine. Prioritize tasks efficiently in a busy environment. Oversee emergency repairs and annual maintenance checks. Coordinate daily and weekly maintenance priorities with the Senior Maintenance Officer. Ensure the safe storage of equipment and materials, preventing unauthorized access. Supervise car park activities for the safe arrival and departure of students and visitors. Qualifications and Skills: Essential: Previous experience in a similar role. Plumbing and carpentry skills. Advanced DIY/maintenance skills. Ability to coordinate and prioritize work. Supervisory skills to maintain high work standards. Effective communication and relationship-building skills. "Can do" attitude and commitment to continuous training and development. Availability for out-of-hours emergencies and call-outs. Flexibility regarding working hours. Desirable: Understanding and experience in implementing health and safety legislation. Knowledge of potential facilities needs in a school setting. Experience in swimming pool maintenance and handling chemicals. COSHH certificate. Within a 30-minute commute of the school. Ability to drive a minibus.
